The basics: cost per shot vs fish multiplier
You pick a shot cost, for example 10 credits. A fish marked 20x pays 200 credits if that shot catches it. Small fish might show 2x to 5x, mid-size 10x to 40x, and bosses 100x or more.
Why bigger fish are harder to catch
If a 2x fish were caught every time, players would win forever. So the game gives each fish a catch probability roughly inverse to its multiplier, minus the house edge. A 2x fish might fall to almost one shot in two; a 100x boss might need dozens of hits on average. The chart above is illustrative, but the shape is how every fish table works.
How much does skill matter?
- It helps you avoid wasting shots on fish leaving the screen, and pick off damaged fish others have hit.
- It does not change the catch probability of any single shot.
Three ways to make a balance last
- Lower your shot cost so variance does not empty you in five minutes.
- Skip special weapons unless you have budgeted for them; they burn credits quickly.
- Set a stop-win and stop-loss before you start, and leave when you hit either.
Fish table myths
"The table is hot after a boss dies." "Shooting the same fish 30 times guarantees it." Neither is true for a random catch roll. Each shot is independent.
A worked example with 1,000 credits
Say you start with 1,000 credits and shoot at 10 credits per shot. That is 100 shots. If the table returned 90% over the long run, you would expect to end around 900 credits, but the spread is wide: one 100x catch turns the session into a 1,900-credit win, while a run of misses on a boss can empty the balance in two minutes. Lower shot costs give you more shots, which pulls your result closer to the average.
| Shot cost | Shots from 1,000 credits | Session swing |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | 200 | Smaller, steadier |
| 10 | 100 | Moderate |
| 50 | 20 | Very large either way |
The 90% figure is an illustration. Juwa does not publish its return rate, so the real number could be lower.
Special weapons and bosses
Lasers, bombs and drills hit several fish at once but cost several shots' worth of credits. They pay off only when a screen is crowded with mid-value fish. Boss rounds raise every multiplier on screen for a short time and are where most big screenshots on Facebook come from, which makes them look more common than they are.

Questions about this topic
Can you beat fish table games?
Not over the long run. Each shot has a fixed catch chance with a house edge built in. Skill can stop you wasting shots, but it does not change the odds.
What is the best shot cost on Juwa fish tables?
The lowest cost that still feels fun. More, smaller shots give you a longer session and a result closer to the table's average.
Are fish tables rigged?
Nobody outside the operator can say, because no independent lab has tested Juwa's games or published their return rate.
